At the end of April, Eli got his first ear infection. He was a little off but mostly happy. A few days before Liam's birthday, Eli started vomiting and won't stop. We took him to the doctors and he was diagnosed with an ear infection and the stomach bug. So we started medication and were hopeful. Well it only got worse. He stopped eating. He refused his bottle. Chris made a call to his old PA and she recommended we go to the ER. So at 6pm we packed Eli up and off I went to the ER. There were kinda busy so we waited about 2 hours to get a bed. At this point Eli was so over tired. Every time he fell asleep a doctor would come in and wake him. Poor Baby! There no much sleeping going on after the second wake up. The diagnosed him with hand foot mouth disease. Because he was refusing to eat, they admitted him to the pediatric ward for IV fluids and tube feeds. We finally made it to our room about 1am. After about 8 different IV sticks they gave up on the IV options. They did manage a nasal-gastric tube. He was not happy about that either. He was finally asleep by 2am. That NG tube only lasted until 6am when Eli woke up to ripe it out. We did lots of around the clock feedings of pedialyte the first day. He was so happy for being so sick. The next day, he was ready for some real formula. He was doing okay with it. He still was not eating great. All the nurses loved him and his doctor was amazed at how happy he was for being so sick. Once he finally started eating food, he was ready for discharge. Chris and I changed places, so I could go home and prep Liam's birthday party that was about to happen in a few hours.
Our first night in our new hospital room
How cute is he?
All tuckered out from everything.
